The novel Oh! Jassie! Oh! Jassie! depicts the cruelty of a mother who kills her own daughter in her degenerating passion to maintain her false family honour. The incidents of honour killings are common in Haryana and Punjab. Jasbir Kaur loved a boy Ravindr Singh who belonged to the lower Jat Sikh family, But the mother of Jasbir Kaur Mrs. Nirmal Kaur had an ambition to marry her daughter to a rich NRI living In Canada. Jassi enjoyed her love in the sugarcane fields of his village with his boy friend Ravinder Singh alias Bholu. They were intimate with each other since their childhood but her mother conspired to kill her boyfriend Ravindr Singh whom she ridiculed as a “Joker” to vindicate her family honour. She hired the professional killers and got Bholu and Jassie killed. Fate and Chance saved Bholu and Jssie was killed. She turned into a spirit and killed all the people who had joined in the conspiracy to kill her boyfriend. The story is of love; betrayal; sexuality; rape and of money power and of false family honour. The story is based on real incidents but all the names and situations had been changed.
