≈öaivakalpadruma is a 17th-century ritual text on the worship of Lord Shiva, practised particularly in the Lingaraj temple of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Lakshmidhara Mishra of Bhubaneswar composed this text consisting of eight chapters in the Sanskrit language. It compiles passages from different Saivite texts to describe the glory of ≈öiva, rituals of the initiation ceremony, daily personal rituals of a ≈öiva devotee, worshiping of the ≈öiva Linga, ceremonies and vows connected to ≈öiva festivals, and the virtue of worshiping and offering dedicated services to ≈öiva. This Odia edition of ≈öaivakalpadruma is based on a Ph.D. thesis, and two paper manuscripts collected from the Government Oriental Manuscript Library in Chennai and the library of Heidelberg University in Germany. It includes a summary of chapters in Odia language for easy comprehension of the text.
