To pen an autobiographical Memoir, one needs to look back into several
decades of his life to be able to recollect experiences of varied nature.
Having done this, it is not easy to put together the narration in a readable
way..Having been an acclaimed scientist all my life I am sure of one thing.
That is to tell things straight. Actually, I did that now.
The autobiographical memoir is presented in five parts by Prof.Ramamurthi
Rallapalli in a thematic pattern. Chapters 1-7 deal with Prof.Ramamurthi
taking over as Vice Chancellor of a huge institution, the Developments
initiated, administrative challenges he faced and solved, major events and
episodes during his regime. Chapters 8-13 describe his education, school
college and research in India and in U.S, his achievements and interactions
with science academies and socio cultural episodes.
Chapters 14-18 show his intense desire to excel in sports, science
promotion, his involvement in Godly activities and family background.
Chapters 19-22 explicitly expose his love for education and science, the
lack of proper attention and support with a note on what should be done by
the society that includes Government to raise the bar,
higher than what it is now and what it should be. Chapter 23 relates to
travels world wide for seminars and lectures, episodes which are
unforgettable and awards, rewards and incidents that are truly memorable.
